CLUB MISSION

Our goal at the Colts Wrestling Club is to introduce boys and girls striving to be future "athletes" (grades 2nd -8th) to the sport of wrestling.  Keeping costs to the families as low as possible and for the kids to have fun.  Our coaches teach the FUNdamentals of wrestling techniques, skills and styles along with overall fitness and conditioning.  We teach our wrestlers teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline and a competitive spirit for those that choose to compete.

what 2 wear?

Proper gym attire.  Gym type shorts, no pockets, zippers or buttons or cargo shorts.  T-shirts, compression shorts or shirts. sweats are OK.  Socks, and wrestling shoes once you are committed it will be a good investment. (we have a few pairs for loan if needed)  No street shoes or tennis shoes are allowed on the mat.  We also ask that the kids wear slides, flips, or other shoes into practice and change to their wrestling shoes in the room.  This helps eliminate tracking of dirt and germs on to the mats.  We clean the mats every day before practice !!

practices

We practice every Tuesday & Thursday @ 530-7 SHARP!  We use the Rodriguez High School Wrestling Room, and sometimes the Cafeteria.  It is located on the right hand side of the gym.  We ask the parents to please get the kids there on time to start with warm-ups and stretches, as this is very important to avoid injuries and improve conditioning.

Attendance:  We expect to see your wrestler at every practice, if possible, (with the exception of family vacations. illnesses of course). If your child is ill, or has a fever, it is a good idea to keep them clear until they are better.

how much??

The first 4 practices are FREE.  We then ask for a nominal $50 (non-refundable) for the season to cover basic costs, and you get a FREE COLTS T-Shirt! The only additional costs are for tournaments if your wrestler wants to compete, which is 100% optional.  We run from October through June.  The Green Valley Vikings squad starts with the Colts, then move on to GVM in December through February. So bring the kids down, and check it out !  Pretty sure they will love this sport !!  And its a great winter sport during the off season for a lot of our kids who play baseball and football or other sports.  We will also ask that you fill out a liability waiver and provide emergency contact info, and insurance data.  Link & forms for all this will be provided @ the 1st practice.
